The Lockdown Diaries #1 | How life has changed

Hey everyone, I hope you are all keeping well during these crazy crazy times! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be entitling a blog post on here with the word 'lockdown' but I guess that is the reality we are all facing and we've got to make the most of it and stay as positive as possible.

It's been over 4 weeks since restrictions were imposed on us here in Ireland and they've been extended for at least another 3 weeks, so we have a while to go yet!

I thought I would start this little series where I talk about my personal experiences and thoughts every week. The crazy thing is pretty much the entire world is experiencing the same thing right now, but individually it can be a really lonely time, so maybe it might be nice for you to read these posts and feel a little less alone.

I thought I might do little updates once a week about what I'm doing and how I'm coping. I thought a good place to start with this series is talking about how my life has changed and what effect this whole thing has had on my day to day life.

So how has my life changed?...

The main change in my life has been moving to live with my sister during the crisis and working from home instead of going to the office.

To be honest, I'm pretty happy staying at my sisters house. She's got 4 kids so I am never short of company or a hug. I've got my own room in the attic which is lovely and cosy, her house is surrounded by gorgeous walkways, fields and rivers all within the 2 km, so things could be a lot worse for me on that front, still though, it is weird being away from your own bed and the environment you are used to.

Working from home has been a bit of a challenge, I can't say I'm loving it. I'm finding it really hard to stay disciplined, usually rolling out of bed at 8 am and at my desk for 8.45 am, I really need to work on that but damn i love sleep, maybe when I find a routine for myself I will share it on here. Another thing I hate about working from home is I find the time goes super slowly, the work feels more boring than usual and it's lonely, I miss my work pals!

The worst part of all this whole thing though is not being able to see my parents as they're over 70 and 'cocooning'. It's sad thinking of them alone in the house not being able to go anywhere, and for god knows how long. Every Easter Sunday my whole family gathers at their house for dinner and this year it's just them. I know they're missing their grandkids so much and that breaks by heart. But once they stay healthy it will all be worth it.

Maybe we can have a little chat and catch up in the comments. I would love to hear what the biggest thing that's changed in your life due to pandemic, or has your life changed at all. Remember, we are all in this together and we will persevere!
