A Year for Me

In my last post I talked about how I wanted 2020 to be the year of me but I'm here today to write down what it is exactly I mean by that.

Over the past week or two I have been thinking a lot about what I want 2020 to look like.

I don't believe in the whole 'new year, new me' malarkey, we can't totally change ourselves just because our socially constructed calendar has a new number on it.

I have been thinking about what I want to focus my time and thoughts on this year, what I want to change and what I want to improve.

I came to the conclusion that I want to and need to spend this year nurturing a love for myself. 

It has to be said, I suffer from a lot of self doubt and often find myself questioning my worth.

 I find myself comparing myself to my peers and wondering why I don't appear to be doing as well in life as them.

I compare myself to bloggers and their outfits and find myself looking in the mirror and not being happy with what I see.

Being single again has me sometimes feeling unworthy of love. I'm scared of time ticking away and never finding the right person.

I promise I'm not a saddo and I don't feel like this all the time, but I do want to work on it and I want to get to a place where I feel confident, fulfilled and happy.

 The key though is - I want that fulfilment and happiness to come from within myself not from someone else.

How am I going to nurture a love for myself?

I've been thinking about how exactly I am going to develop this self love and I've broken it up into two categories - physical and mental. They definitely cross over at times, but I like to categorise things, makes it more approachable haha.

Physical self love
  • Exercise (I've just joined the gym!)
  • Eat healthy (most of the time)
  • Lose a few inches on my waist
  • Invest in skincare
  • Keep my nails done nice
  • Dress my best
  • Maintain a tan
  • Pamper myself and moisturise my body
  • Get enough sleep
  • Get a food intolerance test
Mental self love
  • Find a new hobby/join a club
  • Cut back on social media
  • Find my photography grove
  • Make time to blog
  • Walk the dogs
  • Read educational books
  • Get fresh air
  • Try to meet new people
  • Grow my friendships
  • Go on road-trips
Since blogging more is something I would like to do, I was thinking that this year I could focus all my blog posts on my plan for having a 'year of me' and talk about all the different things I am doing to find self love such as the ones listed above. I don''t think I will be blogging heaps but maybe having this little bit of focus will make it easier for me to blog more often.
